One of the most important aspects of enjoying whisky is choosing the right glass. There are different types of whisky glasses on the market, each designed to offer a specific taste experience. Let's take a look!
Glencairn glass
Master Blender Richard Paterson (Whyte & Mackay: The Dalmore, Jura, Fettercairn, Tamnavulin) said it all: there is no better glass for enjoying scotch than a Glencairn glass.

The Glencairn glass is a small, tulip-shaped glass specially designed to experience the full flavour and aroma of a single malt whisky. It has a wide bottom and a thin opening, allowing the whisky to breathe better and bring out the flavours and aromas. It is therefore no surprise that Glencairn glasses are preferred by whisky lovers and professionals around the world. In fact, the glasses have become so popular that some distilleries and whisky bars use them as standard glassware. Also on Spirits In The Sky the Glencairn glass is the standard.
Copita glass
The copita glass is similar to the Glencairn glass, but has a wider bottom and a slimmer opening. Originally used in Spain for tasting sherry, it is now becoming increasingly popular for whisky tasting. The Copita glass is ideal for tasting whiskies with a strong aroma, as the flavours and aromas can develop well in the glass. We recommend Copita glasses if you want to experience every nuance of a Single Malt Scotch whisky.
Snifter glass
The Snifter glass is another widely used glass for drinking whisky. It is designed to concentrate and enhance the aroma of whisky and reduce the alcohol content of the drink. The bowl-shaped top allows the whisky to swirl, releasing the aromas and diffusing them into the air. The short stem allows the glass to be held without heating the liquid with the heat of the hands. Moreover, the wide upper part of the glass reduces the evaporation of the alcohol, making the taste of the whisky less pungent. It is especially popular with lovers of Single Malt Scotch whiskies and Bourbons, but can also be used for other types of whisky, such as Irish and Canadian whiskies.
Tumbler glass
The Tumbler glass is the most common type of whisky glass and is often used as a general drinking glass. Some people prefer to drink their whisky from these glasses because of the tradition and feel it gives. This glass has a wide, cylindrical shape and a thick bottom, making it perfect to use when mixing whisky with other drinks such as cola or water, for example. It is best to use this glass when drinking Bourbon and Blended whisky.
However, the Tumbler glass is a no-go for experiencing the complex aromas and flavours of a single malt whisky.

As a creative jack-of-all-trades in the marketing world, I also bring that imaginative flair to my drink choices. Whether on a night out, sunny vacation or social gathering with girlfriends, I'm always in my element with a refreshing cocktail in hand. Cocktails have stolen my heart because of the endless possibilities to experiment and explore. My favorite cocktail of the moment is the "Lazy Red Cheeks"! A delicious cocktail using vodka as a base. I love vodka because it mixes perfectly with non-alcoholic drinks. My favorite spirit? Rum!
