Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is the flagship wine of Wynns Coonawarra Estate and part of the estate's Icon Range. First produced in 1982, it is made only in small quantities from selected Cabernet Sauvignon parcels in the heart of Coonawarra's terra rossa soils.
The 2018 release draws on fruit from three chosen Wynns vineyards, with vines averaging 29 years of age. The season brought a warm summer, followed by cooler autumn conditions that extended ripening. That background helps explain the wine's repeated themes of depth, freshness and finely shaped structure.

Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 sits at the top of the Wynns Coonawarra Estate range. It is made in small quantities from selected Cabernet Sauvignon parcels from the estate, with the 2019 release drawn from three terra rossa vineyards in Coonawarra. The average vine age was 36 years, and Wynns notes that John Riddoch uses less than one percent of the estate's best Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
Wynns describes 2019 as a classic vintage. Good winter rain was followed by a cool, dry spring, then evenly warm days without heat spikes and cool nights influenced by the Southern Ocean. The result is not an overly weighty Cabernet, but a medium-bodied wine with clarity, freshness and finely detailed tannins.

Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Magnum is a serious Coonawarra Cabernet from South Australia. Within the Wynns range, John Riddoch is positioned as the flagship Cabernet Sauvignon cuvée. It was first made in 1982 and is named after John Riddoch, founder of the Coonawarra Fruit Colony and builder of the historic Wynns Gabled Winery.
The 2019 vintage is made entirely from Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, selected from three key terra rossa vineyards with an average vine age of 36 years. Wynns produces John Riddoch in small quantities from the best available Cabernet parcels on the estate; according to the producer, less than one percent of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are used. Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is the flagship cuvée of Wynns Coonawarra Estate, from Coonawarra in South Australia. It is built on selection rather than volume: Wynns states that less than one percent of its finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are used for this wine, and the John Riddoch label is only produced in years when the fruit reaches the required standard.
The 2020 release comes from three selected Wynns terra rossa vineyards, with vines averaging 29 years of age for this vintage. Good winter and spring rainfall replenished the soils, while cold southerly winds during flowering and fruit set reduced yields. The result is presented as a concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with structure, yet not a heavy-bodied style.
