The Glendronach 15y New is the perfect choice for enthusiasts who appreciate the finer single malt whisky. This whisky comes from the Scottish Highland and was bottled at 46%. Ideal for those who already have some experience with whisky and are ready for something more smoky and complex. Perfect to enjoy after a long day, or to give as a surprising gift. The price of this single malt whisky is somewhat higher, but the taste and quality more than make up for it.

Flavour notes
The aroma is rich yet finely drawn, with a clear oloroso signature: sultanas, walnut liqueur and cherries, joined by maraschino cherry, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate and a touch of orange bitters. On the palate it is full and powerful, firmly sherry-led. Honeyed apricot, ripe fig, dates and plums move into chocolate, coffee, black cherry and dark brown sugar. With each sip, clove, nutmeg and cinnamon become more pronounced. The finish is long, carrying spice, black fruit and blackcurrant.

Product info about Glendronach 15y New
The Glendronach 15 year old has long been one of those whiskies that enthusiasts return to with confidence. Its packaging may have been renewed, yet the whisky itself remains rooted in the style that made its name: a Highland single malt shaped entirely by sherry cask maturation. For this expression, The Glendronach uses a combination of oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks. The oloroso side brings aromatic depth and complexity, while PX casks add sweetness and the darker tones of dried fruit. Together they give this 15 year old its generous, richly sherried personality.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of bottle we see as a dependable reference point for drinkers who appreciate mature, sherry-led single malt. It has weight, familiarity and a reputation that still feels well earned in the glass.

About GLENDRONACH
Glendronach's main focus, however, remains the creation of beautiful whiskies. The hand of Rachel Barrie, the new master blender, is clear. With great expertise, she selects the casks used to compose Glendronach's base range and manages to keep quality high year after year. Work is also currently underway to significantly expand production capacity to produce even more quality spirit in the future.
Flagship on offer is the 12yo, aged exclusively in a combination of oloroso and PX sherry casks. Then there are also the 15yo, the 18yo and the 21yo to discover, and regularly limited official bottlings such as the Cask Strength and the Grandeur.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of whisky is Glendronach 15y New?
Glendronach 15y New is a single malt whisky.
The word 'single' causes some confusion for many. A single malt is nothing more and nothing less than a product from a single distillery. So it has nothing to do with a single cask or even casks of the same age.
Single malt whisky is made from malted barley and distilled in the famous copper pot stills, the distinctive copper stills.
Is Glendronach 15y New a no age statement whisky (NAS)?
No, Glendronach 15y New is not a no age statement (NAS) whisky. The label explicitly states an age and that age represents the youngest whisky found in the bottle (or in the blend).
Is Glendronach 15y New a single cask whisky?
No, Glendronach 15y New is not a single cask whisky.
Is Glendronach 15y New a whisky at cask strength?

Is Glendronach 15y New suitable to give as a gift?
Although this Glendronach 15y New is not or does not have explicit gift packaging, it can certainly make an excellent gift. But if you are looking for a gift for an experienced whisky-drinker they may not be waiting for yet another glass and then this one Glendronach 15y New might even be a better choice than such a gift pack.
Is Glendronach 15y New a popular whisky?
Absolutely! Glendronach 15y New is a whisky that is currently included in our Top 100. This top contains the 100 products that were sold most often in our shops over the past 12 months, which is a good indicator of the product's stable popularity over a longer period of time.
Is Glendronach 15y New een goede keuze voor mij?
This Glendronach 15y New can be a whisky one that suits you if you like a whisky with a smoky character. Indeed, the peat flavour is quite prominent in the flavour profile.
However, we recommend that you also look at the rest of the flavour profile, as this peatiness is of course only one part of the overall character of this whisky.
Is Glendronach 15y New a tarred whisky?
Yes, Glendronach 15y New is a whisky with a reasonably peated flavour profile: the smokiness of this whisky will be unmistakable with every sip. However, it is more moderate than in the most intensely peated whisky.
Peaty, smoky or peat is a typical flavour associated with a particular type of whisky. It is a flavour you have to (learn to) love.

No, Glendronach 15y New is an official bottling of Glendronach.
Is Glendronach 15y New suitable for an Irish Coffee?
To make an Irish Coffee according to the rules of the art, you need an Irish whiskey. Since you are going to mix it with coffee and whipped cream, we recommend using a good, but not overpriced whiskey. This Glendronach 15y New is a whiskey, but because this whiskey comes from Scotland it is not the best choice to make a "real" Irish Coffee.
Did you know that the first Irish Coffee was invented in 1942 by bartender Joe Sheridan? He was working at the airport in Foynes, in the west of Ireland. The barman saw some tired passengers and figured they needed coffee with something special. To perk them up, he poured them coffee with a dash of whiskey mixed in and some coffee on top. When asked if it was Brazilian coffee, Sheridon replied, "No, my friend, this is Irish Coffee." And so it was.

How do I get started on Scotch whisky?
Many people assume that a more expensive bottle of Scotch whisky is automatically better. It sounds logical: the higher the price, the better the quality. But in reality, the difference between a bottle of a few tens and one worth thousands of euros is rarely purely in the taste. What you pay has much more to do with age, scarcity, marketing and reputation than with what you actually taste in your glass.
To understand this properly, it helps to look at Scotch in different "levels". Each level tells you something about what you are drinking and, more importantly, what you are paying for, but not every epicurean goes through all these levels.
You can read all about it in our blog post Why an expensive Scotch doesn't necessarily taste better - the different levels of Scotch.
