Château Smith Haut Lafitte Rouge 2019 Demi is the estate's red grand vin from Pessac-Léognan, presented here in the 37.5 cl half-bottle format. The word demi refers only to the bottle size, not to a separate cuvée: this is the 2019 dry red Bordeaux from a Grand Cru Classé de Graves.Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small share of Petit Verdot. The grapes come from the château's estate in Martillac, where the vineyards lie in one continuous block on a plateau of Günz gravel. Smith Haut Lafitte is a winery from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, south of the city of Bordeaux. The estate has a history dating back to the 14th century, but the name Smith Haut Lafitte became known in the 18th century thanks to the Scottish merchant George Smith, who acquired the estate and linked his name to it. Today, the Château is owned by Daniel and Florence Cathiard, who have been managing it since 1990. Smith Haut Lafitte produces both red and white wines, with the reds generally made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and the whites mainly from Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris.
