About FRANCOIS GUY
Francois Guy is a French absinthe produced in Pontarlier, a town in the Franche-Comté region known as a historic center of absinthe production. The brand is named after François Guy, a distiller who played an important role in the reintroduction of absinthe in the 1980s after the lifting of the ban on this drink in France in 1988. The distillery behind the brand, Distillerie Pierre Guy, has been in operation since 1890 and is run by the same family. Francois Guy adheres to traditional methods, including the use of large copper stills and real plants such as wormwood, anise, and fennel to deliver the distinctive flavor. This approach is intended to preserve the authentic style of Pontarlier absinthe, a type of absinthe that is known worldwide for its fresh, herbal character. The brand is valued in France and beyond by enthusiasts seeking the traditional absinthe style, and is often mentioned as an example of a product that matches the classic flavor profiles from the time before the absinthe ban. The range contains various variants, but they all share the link with the rich history of absinthe in Pontarlier.
