Cointreau is a French liqueur that is known worldwide as a classic triple sec, in other words, a crystal-clear orange liqueur. The brand was founded in 1875 in Angers by Edouard Cointreau, who came from a family of patissiers and distillers. The recipe for Cointreau has remained largely unchanged to this day and is characterized by the distillation of dried and fresh orange peels, which gives the drink its fresh and aromatic character. Cointreau stands out for its clear color and a flavor profile in which intense orange aromas are combined with a subtle sweetness and a dry finish. The brand has played an important role in the development of classic cocktails such as the Margarita, Cosmopolitan and Sidecar. Today, Cointreau continues to be produced in Angers, with craftsmanship and quality at its core.
