About LEPANTO
Lepanto is a Spanish brandy that comes from Jerez de la Frontera, a region that is recognized worldwide for its rich sherry tradition. The production of Lepanto is in the hands of Gonzalez Byass, a family business that has been active in the region since the 19th century. Lepanto stands out because it is one of the few Spanish brandies that is distilled entirely in Jerez from Palomino grapes, the same grape variety that is commonly used in the area for making sherry. Distillation takes place in traditional copper alambics, after which the brandy matures for years according to the solera system in casks that previously held sherry. As a result, Lepanto develops its characteristic soft, complex character with notes of dried fruit, vanilla and sometimes a subtle hint of hazelnut. The assortment consists of various expressions, which mainly differ in maturation time and the type of sherry cask in which they have been aged, such as old Oloroso or Pedro Ximénez casks. Thanks to this classic approach and the use of local raw materials, Lepanto fits seamlessly into the long gin and sherry history of Andalusía, and the brand is regarded as an authentic choice for lovers of traditional Spanish brandy.
