About VAUDON
It all began in 1771, when Francois Gaborit left his estate and vineyards to his stepson, Pierre Nalbert. For generations, the estate grew and evolved: Denis Nalbert had already described in 1833 how April frost, dry periods and hailstorms affected the harvest. Fast forward to the 20th century: Denis, followed by Pierre Mousset, planted a large part of today's vineyards and installed the first 25hl still. The second was installed by Bernard Vaudon. He married Anne-Marie Mousset: both come from winemaking families and the estate grew again. Today, Anne-Marie Vaudon and Pierre Vaudon are the owners of this cognac house with a long history and know-how. Pierre Vaudon is also head of the renowned Cognac house Francois Voyer. The brand Cognac Vaudon focuses on één single "cru" of cognac: the Fins Bois, the largest cru of the region. The light soil is made of hard, superficial calcareous clay (flinty). It gives body and softness to their cognacs. This cru is known to mature quickly. It develops spicy and licorice notes very early. They use the Ugni Blanc grapes ëö mechanically processed in September ëö and follow the strictest rules of modern oenology through delicate pneumatic pressing, light settling filtration, fermentation and thermo-regulated fermentation in stainless steel tanks, as well as a thorough analysis of the components of each wine. These are the foundations of the quality of their eaux de vie. Also unique is that they do not add sulfur to their wines.
