Product info about Francois Voyer 1993

Francois Voyer 1993 is a cognac where the year immediately matters. Distilled in 1993 and carrying 53.6% alcohol, it presents itself with real presence rather than as a soft, background-style cognac.

The appeal here lies in the way power and aromatic depth come together. The tasting notes point towards abundant fruit, southern spices, sweet tobacco, leather and mocha. That gives the cognac a mature, layered feel, with enough intensity to keep evolving in the glass.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of cognac we would place in front of someone who enjoys taking time with a spirit: concentrated, expressive and built around fruit, spice and a long aromatic development.

About FRANCOIS VOYER

The 28 hectares of vineyards belonging to François Voyer are situated in the Grande Champagne region, the Premier Cru of Cognac, known for producing eaux-de-vie with aromatic power and qualities suitable for long-term aging. François Voyer Cognac is a family-run Cognac house that is passionate about every detail of production. The Cognac house François Voyer was transferred in 2017 to its cellar master and oenologist Pierre Vaudon, to safeguard the identity. Their cognacs develop the typical aromas as they age. The notes of pear, banana, or even blackberry in the white eaux de vie are quickly complemented after distillation by the first aromas of the oak wood of the casks. This combination reveals floral aromas in the young cognacs, which then develop into fruity aromas (peaches, plums, apricots, walnuts, and hazelnuts). The aging process leads to spicy (cinnamon, pepper) and complex notes (leather, incense, cedar wood). The vineyards are located in Verrières and Ambleville and cognac has been produced there since 1870. Mainly Ugni blanc is planted. But more recently, Folle Blanche was also reintroduced; for the first results we still need to be patient. 10% to 20% of each harvest matures 3 years in new casks and then in old barrels to refine the aromas. For this, they use French oak from the Limousin region, but also from forests such as Bercée, Le Gâvre, or Reno Valdieu. The natural atmosphere in the cellars is more or less humid and influences the finesse or smoothness of the bouquet. Humidity softens the eaux de vie, while dry cellars refine them. Every year, 10,000 bottles evaporate from the cellars of François Voyer. In 1 hour, 1 liter of cognac evaporates from the stocks. Through natural evaporation, these cognacs reach 40% vol in 50 to 60 years. Regularly, distilled water is added to the youngest blends. As a result, young, reduced cognacs will be less dense in flavor than old cognacs that are concentrated through natural evaporation. The range is classic, with a series of younger expressions, but also exceptionally old assemblages and vintage bottles. The house of Voyer cherishes traditional knowledge and pays immense attention to perfectionism. Combined with hard work, it makes for a great match. Absolutely one of our favorite Cognac houses, as they manage to set the bar very high across their entire range and bottle absolute, uncompromising, and very distinctive quality.

Frequently asked questions

Is Francois Voyer 1993 suitable to give as a gift?

Although this Francois Voyer 1993 is not or does not have explicit gift packaging, it can certainly make an excellent gift. Gift packs are usually taken as a safe choice of gift because brands often combine the most accessible or their most popular cognac combine with a fun accessory in a nice gift pack. But if you are looking for a gift for an experienced cognac-drinker they may not be waiting for yet another glass and then this one Francois Voyer 1993 might even be a better choice than such a gift pack.

Does Francois Voyer 1993 have a high alcohol content?

Cognac of more than 52% is rather rare. Often, such a high alcohol content is due to the fact that it is a cask strength cognac (a cognac cask strength): the cognac in that case is not diluted before bottling so it goes into the bottle at a higher alcohol content. Cognac with a high alcohol content often benefits from a few drops of water to release the aromas and make the alcohol less predominant in the glass, and in itself is also fine for use in stronger cocktails.

Is Francois Voyer 1993 vegan?

According to the data currently available to us, we cannot state with certainty that this product is vegan and this claim is not explicitly made by the brand.

Is Francois Voyer 1993 a biological cognac?

Based on the information available to us, we can conclude that this Francois Voyer 1993 cognac from Francois Voyer is not an organic product.
