The house was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer in the service of the French army, and since then has built a long history in the production of eaux-de-vie and blended cognacs. Today, Hennessy is part of the luxury group LVMH and has grown into one of the largest players in the international cognac market. In the cellars of Hennessy, thousands of barrels are maturing, many of which come from various crus in the Cognac region, such as Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Borderies. The style of Hennessy is characterized by a combination of fruity, spicy and oaky notes, partly thanks to a characteristic blending process in which craftsmanship plays a central role. Over the years, the brand has maintained strong ties with the Fillioux family, who for generations as master blenders have guarded the distinctive profile.
