Cointreau is a classic French liqueur that originated in Angers, where it was developed in the mid-19th century by the brothers Edouard and Adolphe Cointreau. The liqueur is distilled from a combination of sweet and bitter orange peels, which provides a distinct fresh and clear citrus aroma that is characteristic of Cointreau. Since its introduction in 1875, the brand has established itself as a staple in the world of orange liqueurs, in part due to a carefully guarded recipe whose essence has remained unchanged for more than a century.
