About STREGA
Strega is a classic Italian liqueur that has been produced since 1860 according to a secret recipe in Benevento, a city in southern Italyâ. The brand is closely linked to the Alberti family, who to this day play a central role in the company. The characteristic golden yellow drink is made from more than seventy different herbs and spices from all over the world, including saffron, which contributes to both the color and the aromatic profile. Strega literally means witch in Italian, a reference to the many legends about witchcraft associated with the region of Benevento. Because of its spicy, slightly bitter and sweet taste, Strega is consumed both neat and in cocktails, and it is also a popular flavoring in desserts and pastries throughout Italyâ. The recipe and production have remained largely unchanged since its founding, which contributes to the recognizable character and long tradition of the brand within the world of liqueurs.
