About WARRE'S
Warre & Co werd opgericht in 1670 en is het oudste portohuis ter wereld. William Warre gaf zijn naam in 1729 aan het bedrijf en de familie Warre zou meer dan 200 jaar lang actief zijn in de portowereld. In 1863 trok Andrew James Symington, overgrootvader van de huidige directeur van Warre, naar Portugal en werd in 1905 geassocieerd met Warre. Vanaf 1912 keerde de familie Warre terug naar Londen om van daaruit de verkoop te beheren, terwijl de familie Symington in Portugal bleef en zich over de productie ontfermde. Symington Family wines is tot op heden het moederbedrijf van Warre. De wijnen van Warre komen van drie grote landgoederen: Quinta da Cavadinha (46 hectare), Quinta do Retiro Antigo (40 ha) en Quinta da Telhada (35 ha).
