Product info about Caiarossa 2019
Caiarossa 2019 is the flagship wine of Caiarossa, an estate in Riparbella in Tuscany's Val di Cecina. Its official designation is IGT Toscana Rosso, and it is built as a Tuscan blend with Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Merlot at its core, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese and Grenache.The wine reflects Caiarossa's patchwork of vineyards around Riparbella, just a few kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The estate works with biodynamic principles and draws on parcels with very different soils, including clay, gravel, limestone, iron-rich ground, marl, schist, stones and volcanic influences. Each parcel and grape variety is vinified separately, giving the final blend its sense of detail.
The 2019 harvest was carried out by hand, beginning with Merlot on 6 September and ending with Petit Verdot on 30 September. Fermentation took place slowly in concrete tanks and wooden truncated-cone vats, with gentle extraction. The wine then spent around 14 months in French oak barriques, followed by additional ageing in concrete and bottle before release.

About CAIAROSSA
Caiarossa is a wine estate from Tuscany, located in the hills near the town of Riparbella on the Etruscan coast. The project was started in 1998 with a focus on sustainable viticulture and respect for the environment, which meant that both organic and biodynamic methods were used from the beginning. Since 2004, Caiarossa has been owned by the Albada Jelgersma family, who were also owners of the French Chateau Giscours in Margaux. The estate covers about 70 hectares, of which over 30 hectares are planted with vines. Here, in addition to international grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot, traditional Italian variëtïes such as Sangiovese and Alicante are also grown. The red wines of Caiarossa are known for their expressive character, elegant structure and balance between power and refinement, thanks in part to the diverse soil types in the vineyards. The flagship is the wine Caiarossa, a blend of multiple grape varieties, alongside other wines including Pergolaia. The philosophy of the estate focuses on bringing back the natural expression of the terroir in every bottle, with attention to authenticity and ecological responsibility. Caiarossa is appreciated worldwide by lovers of Tuscan wine with a modern identity.
