This whisky is matured in Pedro Ximenez Puncheon barrels. It is a version of 70 cl and has an alcohol content of 46,1%.

This whisky is a single cask bottling. What is a single cask? A single cask (single barrel) means that the whisky in the bottle comes from just one cask and was not mixed with another whisky from e.g. another barrel. Because the contents come from a single barrel, the number of bottles depends on the size of the barrel and the evaporation of the product (called the Angel's Share), the number of bottles is limited (and often numbered) and no new bottles of this particular reference are released on the market. That also makes this Glenglassaugh 1968 47y Batch 3 single cask a rather unique specimen.

The whisky was bottled at cask strength. What does cask strength mean? A cask strength whisky is not diluted with water before bottling, but goes straight from the cask into the bottle, thus retaining the alcohol content during/after cask maturation. One of the advantages of this cask strength Glenglassaugh 1968 47y Batch 3 is that, when drinking it, you can decide how strong you like your whisky by diluting it, or not, yourself with a little water according to your preference, instead of the producer having already done this for you. However, the higher alcohol content can sometimes suppress the subtlety of the whisky.

We have compiled a flavour profile for this Glenglassaugh 1968 47y Batch 3 whisky. Of course, taste is very personal, so these parameters mainly serve as a guide to help you figure out what you like so you can discover new things.

Right from the start, you will find quite strong fruity notes in this product. You will pick up these flavours immediately and they will determine your first impression. The woody flavours are quite noticeable, but are not dominant. They help determine the flavour, profile and character of this drink but are less decisive than any strong notes present. There are noticeable spicy hints, but these flavours are subtle. They add extra character and depth to this drink, without really pushing it in any particular direction.

Based on this profile, you can conclude that this whisky has a pronounced, recognisable character.

About GLENGLASSAUGH
