Château Talbot Caillou Blanc 2021 reveals a less familiar side of Saint-Julien and the Médoc. Talbot is closely associated with red Bordeaux, yet Caillou Blanc has its own story within the estate: white grape varieties are relatively unusual in the Médoc, and their return at Talbot dates back to Georges Cordier in the 1930s.The 2021 vintage is a dry Bordeaux Blanc made from 73% Sauvignon Blanc and 27% Sémillon, grown on a dedicated 5.2-hectare section of the château's vineyard. The vines average 45 years of age and stand on Médoc gravel soils. The grapes were hand-harvested and selected in the vineyard, in keeping with the precise approach behind this white wine.
Its character is shaped as much by its élevage as by its blend. Fermentation took place entirely in oak barriques, 33% of them new, followed by 8 months on the lees with bâtonnage. That gives the wine more breadth and texture than a simple, fruit-driven Sauvignon Blanc, while retaining the freshness and aromatic lift that define the style.

About CH TALBOT
Château Talbot is a well-known French wine producer from the Bordeaux region, more specifically from Saint-Julien, one of the prestigious appellations in the Médoc. The estate owes its name to Connetable Talbot, an English knight from the 15th century, and now has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. Château Talbot is especially known for its wines, which are often classified as Quatrième Grand Cru Classé according to the famous Bordeaux classification of 1855. The estate covers more than 100 hectares, mainly with cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot and cabernet franc. The wines from this house are known for their classic Bordeaux style with a firm structure, elegant spiciness and a long aging potential, typical for the Saint-Julien terroir. In the cellar the emphasis is on traditional vinification, which contributes to the character and consistency of the vintages. In addition to the grand vin, the estate also produces a second wine, Connetable Talbot, which is more accessible in its youth.
