By Clinet 2017 is a red Pomerol from Bordeaux, made within the Château Clinet organisation. For this cuvée, Clinet works with a selection of growers from Pomerol, while the blending and maturation are handled by the same team responsible for the Grand Vin of Château Clinet. That gives the wine a clear Pomerol identity, shaped through fruit from several terroirs within the appellation.The 2017 blend is 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, placing it firmly in Right Bank Bordeaux territory. The soils mentioned include deep clay mixed with gravel and sandy clay, and the wine spent 12 months in barriques that had previously held one wine. The emphasis is therefore on ripe fruit, roundness and texture, with oak influence present in an integrated way rather than as the main feature.
At Clinet, 2017 began with early budbreak and concern around spring frost, followed by good flowering and a growing season without pronounced drought or heat. The producer describes the vintage as having homogeneous quality across the grape varieties and good ripeness.
