Flavour notes

Château Palmer 2011 shows a dark-fruited register, with cassis, blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and black raspberry. Floral notes of violet and rose sit alongside deeper accents of liquorice, truffle, graphite, charcoal, bay leaf, cedar, rosemary, mint and menthol.

On the palate it is described as dry, concentrated and medium to full in body, with lively acidity and compact yet fine tannins. The texture has a velvety feel, and the finish remains long and fresh. Given the wine's current age, some sediment may be present when opened.

Product info about Chateau Palmer 2011

Château Palmer 2011 is the estate's Grand Vin from Margaux, a dry red Bordeaux from the Left Bank. As a Troisième Cru Classé from the 1855 classification, Palmer already carries a serious pedigree, yet the real interest here lies in how the 2011 vintage shaped the wine: low yields, strict selection and a clear sense of precision.

The blend is 55% merlot and 45% cabernet sauvignon, with no petit verdot included in this vintage. That gives merlot a notably prominent role, while cabernet sauvignon provides the frame and structure. The growing season started exceptionally early, with warmth and dryness, followed by hail that reduced the potential crop. Only a carefully selected part of the harvest was used for the Grand Vin.

In the cellar, Château Palmer vinified the parcels separately, using spontaneous fermentation and gentle extraction to preserve the quality of the tannins. The wine was then aged for around 21 months in barriques, about half of them new. Within the Bordeaux selection at Drankenshop Broekmans, this is a bottle with a very specific vintage story: Margaux refinement, a merlot-led Palmer blend, and the concentration that comes from a small, carefully chosen crop. Availability is limited, as these are the last bottles.

About CH PALMER

Château Palmer is a renowned wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, more specifically from the Margaux appellation in the Médoc. The estate has a history that dates back to the early 19th century and is known for its namesake red wines. Château Palmer is often associated with a style that combines elegance and refinement, which is typical for quality wines from Margaux. The vineyards are planted mainly with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a smaller share of Petit Verdot, resulting in a classic Bordeaux blend. Great emphasis is placed on terroir and careful vinification, applying both tradition and modern insights. In addition to the Grand Vin, the estate also produces a second wine, Alter Ego de Palmer, which has a more accessible character but is made with the same attention. Château Palmer belongs to the so-called Troisièmes Crus according to the 1855 classification, a position that gives the brand extra prestige on the international market. The combination of rich history, focus on quality, and the recognizable style make it a fixture within the selection of top French wines.
