Flavour notes

In the glass, Château Marjosse Rouge 2019 shows a deep purple to garnet-purple colour. The aroma is led by ripe fruit: blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry and plum, with touches of sour cherry and dark fruit that can lean towards a jam-like impression.

There is also a more aromatic side, with pepper, spice, rose or peony, followed by nuances of tea, tobacco, graphite, cedar, vanilla and light toast. On the palate it is medium to full in body, supple in texture, with ripe, round to velvety tannins and enough freshness to keep the fruit lively.

The finish remains fruit-driven and fresh, with red and dark fruit, gentle spice and a lightly perfumed aftertaste.

Product info about Chateau Marjosse Red 2019 Magnum (1,5l)

Château Marjosse Rouge 2019 in magnum is a red Bordeaux with a clear sense of place and vintage. The estate is located in Tizac-de-Curton, in Entre-Deux-Mers, while the wine itself is bottled under the Bordeaux AOC. Marjosse is the personal estate of Pierre Lurton, giving this bottle an added layer of interest without taking it away from its approachable Bordeaux character.

The 2019 vintage is a dry red blend led by merlot, supported by cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and malbec. The grapes come from clay-limestone soils, with parcel selection and harvesting at optimum ripeness. Fermentation in temperature-controlled cement vats and maturation partly in 500-litre barrels and partly in concrete help explain the combination of ripe fruit, freshness and structure.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum stands out for customers looking for Bordeaux with substance, but without unnecessary severity. The larger bottle format gives it real presence at the table, and with only the last bottles remaining, this is a release that classic Bordeaux drinkers will want to consider in time.

Serve it lightly cool, around 16 to 17°C, and open the bottle about half an hour before pouring. It pairs well with duck breast, lamb, grilled beef, veal with root vegetables, mushroom dishes and soft cheeses.

About CH MARJOSSE

Chateau Marjosse is a French winery located in the Entre-Deux-Mers region in Bordeaux, an area known for its diverse terroirs and for producing both red and white wines. The history of the estate dates back to the 18th century, with a manor house that has been expanded and renovated several times over the years. Since 1997, Chateau Marjosse has been owned by Pierre Lurton, a well-known name in the Bordeaux wine world and also director of Chateau d'Yquem and Chateau Cheval Blanc. Under his leadership, significant investments have been made in both vineyard management and vinification to refine the quality of the wines. The vineyards mainly consist of classic Bordeaux grapes such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec for the red wines, and Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle for the white wines. The wines of Chateau Marjosse are known for their fresh, approachable style and are usually aged partly in steel and partly in oak, which contributes to their balance and elegance. This makes the brand an interesting choice for those who want to get acquainted with the character of Bordeaux wines without immediately reaching for the most famous and expensive names.
