Farina Mascaradas 2019 is a Spanish red wine from Castilla y León, produced by Bodegas Fariña in Zamora. It is bottled under Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León, with fruit sourced from the area around Toro, Guareña and Tierra del Vino, where Tempranillo is also known locally as Tinta de Toro.The wine is built around estate-grown fruit from seven vineyard plots with different soils and exposures. Grapes from poor sandy soils are blended with fruit from slopes containing clay and limestone. For the 2019 vintage, the producer refers to vines over thirty years old, adding an extra sense of place to this dry red Tempranillo.
Mascaradas takes its name from winter masquerade and dressing-up traditions linked to the winter solstice in parts of Spain and Portugal. It gives the wine a characterful identity beyond the glass: regional fruit, local grape variety and a cultural reference brought together in one bottle.
