Product info about Lacoste Borie 2019
Lacoste-Borie 2019 is the second wine of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste in Pauillac. It carries the identity of the estate, but in a form described by the producer as more approachable at a younger age than the grand vin. It is still very much a dry red Bordeaux from Pauillac, led by Cabernet Sauvignon and shaped by its Médoc origin.The 2019 blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc. That balance matters: Cabernet gives the wine its frame and Pauillac definition, while the relatively generous Merlot share helps make this second wine more open in its youth. The grapes come from the estate of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, with vineyards planted on very deep coarse gravel soils.
There is plenty of care behind the bottle: hand harvesting, selection before and after destemming, around three weeks of maceration and maturation in fine-grained French oak barrels, 45% of them new. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see Lacoste-Borie 2019 as a Pauillac with pedigree, but one that does not ask the drinker to wait forever before enjoying it.
The producer notes that it can be drunk young and becomes more complex with a few years of bottle age. With the last bottles now available, this 2019 feels like a bottle to choose with intention.

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a French wine producer with roots deeply embedded in the famous Bordeaux region, specifically in the Pauillac appellation within the Médoc. This estate has a rich history dating back to the 18th century and owes its name to the Grand-Puy plateau where the vineyards are located, combined with the family name of one of its former owners, Lacoste. The vineyard covers approximately 55 hectares and is mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc.
