Château Larrivaux 2019 is a red Bordeaux from the Haut-Médoc with a slightly different accent from many Left Bank wines. Its blend is led by a relatively high proportion of merlot at 59%, supported by cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and cabernet franc. That gives the wine a generous fruit core, while the Haut-Médoc origin keeps the structure firmly in place.The estate is based in Cissac-Médoc and has a long history, with winemaking mentioned by the producer as far back as 1580. Château Larrivaux also highlights the biodiversity around its vineyards, with plots set among hedges, woodland, meadows and fallow land. The vines grow on clay-limestone and clay-sand soils across different parcels and microclimates.
The 2019 harvest took place from 30 September to 9 October. Fermentation was carried out in concrete vats and stainless-steel tanks, followed by maturation in barriques. Larrivaux is a wine estate from France, located in the appellation Haut-Médoc in the Bordeaux region. The château has a long history dating back to the 16th century, and since its foundation it has been led almost exclusively by female owners, which is remarkable in the Bordeaux area. The estate covers over 19 hectares of vineyards, mainly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, which is typical for this region. Production focuses on traditional Bordeaux blends, with the winery aiming for a harmonious balance between fruitiness, structure, and aging potential. The vines grow on a combination of clay and gravel soils, which contributes to the distinctive character of the wines. Both the management of the estate and the winemaking itself have been in the hands of the family for several generations, with respect for tradition and attention to quality being central. Château Larrivaux markets elegant, approachable wines under its own name that reflect the typical characteristics of the Haut-Médoc.
