Product info about Chateau Beaumont 2016 Magnum (1,5l)
Château Beaumont 2016 Magnum is a red Bordeaux from the Haut-Médoc, bottled here in the generous 1.5 litre format. A magnum changes the mood of a bottle: it feels more suited to the table, to sharing, and to occasions where Bordeaux is meant to be part of the conversation rather than just poured in the background.The 2016 vintage at Château Beaumont had a distinctive rhythm. A rainy start to the year was followed by four very dry months before and during the harvest period, with September rain helping the grapes regain balance. Harvest ran from 29 September to 20 October, at the time the longest harvest period in the history of this wine. The final blend combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot, bringing structure, roundness and a touch of intensity together.
In the cellar, Beaumont keeps the oak influence controlled. The wine matures for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, around 30% of them new, with the aim of supporting the fruit rather than covering it. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Bordeaux we like to introduce when someone is looking for a recognised Haut-Médoc with vintage interest and a more festive bottle size.
It is very much at home with beef, lamb, duck and mature hard cheeses. As these are the last bottles in our selection, this magnum is becoming a scarcer find.
