Product info about Parusso Barolo Bussia Riserva Oro Vigna Munie 2013 Dubbele Magnum (3l)

Parusso Barolo Bussia Riserva Oro Vigna Munie 2013 is a Barolo with a very precise sense of place: Nebbiolo from Vigna Munie, within the Bussia area of Monforte d'Alba. Parusso produces this Riserva only in optimal vintages, using a selection of grapes from this vineyard. Presented here in a 3-litre double magnum, it has the kind of format that naturally belongs at a generous table or in a serious cellar selection.

The 2013 vintage had a difficult beginning, with low average temperatures and plenty of rain, before more stable conditions arrived later in the season. September and October were calmer, allowing harvest to be delayed. That gives useful context: this is a wine shaped by patience in the vineyard, followed by an equally patient approach in the cellar.

The grapes are hand-harvested and handled carefully, followed by long maceration and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Maturation takes place for at least 18 months in small oak barrels, with further ageing in bottle. Available information notes that the Barolo Bussia Riserva Oro is released only after roughly ten years, so it reaches the table with time already behind it.

At Drankenshop Broekmans, this bottle stands out for the combination of Vigna Munie origin, Riserva status, the 2013 vintage and the impressive double magnum format. The wine has received strong recognition from critics including Wine Advocate, James Suckling and Vinous, yet its real interest lies in the complete picture: a carefully built Barolo suited to roast meats, game, truffle dishes and mature cheeses.

The wine is described as deep garnet in colour. Aromatically, it brings together ripe fruit, black cherry, plum and blackberry, with wild flowers, mint, cocoa and light notes of toasted wood.

Further tasting notes add anise, liquorice, rosemary, coffee, tobacco, baked strawberry, cola, graphite, wet stone and blood orange. On the palate it shows broad structure, soft acidity, ripe yet firm tannins, red and black fruit, spicy and floral nuances, and a long finish.

About PARUSSO

Parusso is an Italian wine producer from the famous Piemonte region, where winemaking has been deeply rooted in the culture for generations. The estate is located in Monforte d'Alba, a village that is recognized worldwide as the birthplace of powerful Barolo wines. Parusso focuses mainly on classic grape varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. The winery aims for a balance between tradition and innovation, with grapes being hand-harvested and experimentation taking place in fruit selection and aging variations. The wines are often characterized by their layered complexity, aromatic finesse and a balanced structure, traits that are typical for quality wines from this region. Parusso chooses to place terroir and grape-specific characteristics at the center, with minimal intervention in the winemaking process. As a result, each wine obtains a distinct personality depending on the vineyard the grapes come from. The assortment includes various Barolo wines as well as approachable red and white wines, allowing Parusso to serve a broad audience interested in authentic Piedmontese flavors.
