Château Clément-Pichon 2020 is a red Haut-Médoc from France with a notably Merlot-led composition. The blend is 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, giving this left-bank Bordeaux a broad, ripe-fruited expression alongside the firm structure associated with the appellation.The estate is located in Parempuyre, in the southern part of the Haut-Médoc, and belongs to the Fayat family. The wine is classified as Cru Bourgeois Supérieur. Its vineyards are planted on sandy and dry gravel soils, with clay in parts of the subsoil. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with extraction guided by tasting, followed by 12 months of ageing in barrel and vat.
The 2020 vintage stands out for its dark fruit, freshness and defined tannins. Tasting notes consistently point towards cassis, blackberry, dark plum, cherry and redcurrant, with accents of violet, liquorice, cocoa, coffee, graphite, tobacco leaf, wild thyme and light toast. Château Clëment Pichon is a winery from the Haut-Mëdoc region, north of Bordeaux in France. The estate has a history dating back to the 17th century, although the current castle in neo-Renaissance style dates from the 19th century. The vineyards of Château Clëment Pichon are located on the left bank of the Gironde river and benefit from the characteristic, gravel-rich soil typical of the Haut-Mëdoc. The estate covers an area of approximately 25 hectares, mainly cultivating classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine style is usually characterized by a fine balance between fruit, power and freshness, with Merlot often playing an important role in the blends. Château Clëment Pichon is classified as Cru Bourgeois, a label for high-quality wines from the Médoc outside the famous 1855 classification. By combining modern techniques with tradition, the estate aims to produce wines with an expressive character that reflect the terroir of the Haut-Mëdoc.
