Flavour notes

Château Talbot 2020 in half bottle format brings a serious Saint-Julien into a more flexible 37.5 cl size. It is the grand vin of Château Talbot, a Médoc estate classified as a 4ème Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification.The 2020 vintage is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot. That gives the wine its classical Bordeaux frame: dark fruit, structure and a firm backbone, with Merlot adding roundness and Petit Verdot contributing a spicy accent. The fruit came from vineyards on Médoc gravel soils with a clay base, harvested by hand and selected before vinification in oak vats.
Fifteen months of ageing in oak barrels, including a significant share of new oak, place this firmly in the world of ageworthy left-bank Bordeaux. The half bottle makes it especially useful when you want to open a fine Saint-Julien without committing to a full bottle. Château Talbot is a well-known winery from the Bordeaux region in France, located specifically in the Saint-Julien appellation in the Medoc. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 15th century and is named after Sir John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, who was involved in the Hundred Years War.
