Chateau Francs Magnus 2020 is a red Bordeaux Supérieur with a clear fruit-driven personality and a recognisably Bordeaux sense of freshness. The blend is built around 90% merlot, supported by 10% cabernet franc. That gives the wine a juicy, supple centre, with the cabernet franc adding lift and a finer sense of tension.Francs-Magnus comes from a limestone plateau, with a thin layer of clay over the limestone. That setting helps explain the style described for this wine: medium-bodied, fresh, expressive and not overly heavy. After selection, the grapes are not crushed, a choice made to preserve the fruit. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete vats, followed by ageing mainly in tank, with a smaller part in used one-wine barriques.
The estate was acquired by Arnaud Roux-Oulié in 2011. His personal connection between wine and painting is part of the identity of Francs-Magnus, as he paints labels for his wines each year.
