Pichon Comtesse Réserve de la Comtesse 2020 is the second wine of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in Pauillac. It carries the setting and seriousness of a respected Left Bank estate, while remaining a distinct selection within the château's own range.The 2020 vintage was shaped by an early start to the season, a warm dry summer phase and a healthy September harvest. The blend brings together Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, followed by 12 months of ageing with a portion in new oak. The result is a red Bordeaux built around ripe fruit, fine structure and freshness.
This 37.5 cl demi bottle is a very useful format when you want a serious Pauillac without opening a full bottle. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we particularly appreciate it for dinners for two, or for discovering the character of a strong Bordeaux vintage in a smaller bottle. As these are the last bottles, availability is naturally limited.
It has the depth to sit comfortably alongside game birds, veal in creamy preparations or grilled beef. When opened young, a short decant can give the wine a little extra room to unfold.

Ch Pichon Comtesse, fully known as Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, originates from the prestigious Bordeaux region in France and belongs to the Pauillac appellation. This winery traces its origins back to the 19th century and is internationally renowned for its elegant red wines, in which cabernet sauvignon usually plays the leading role, often complemented by merlot and smaller proportions of cabernet franc and petit verdot. The vineyards are situated on the characteristic gravel soils of the left bank of the Gironde, which contributes to the structure and aging potential of the wines. Château Pichon Comtesse received the status of Deuxième Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, placing it among the second highest rank of the Medoc vineyards.
