Product info about Connetable Talbot 2020 Magnum (1,5l)
Connétable Talbot 2020 is the second wine of Château Talbot in Saint-Julien, a château classified as a Fourth Growth in 1855. It carries the Talbot signature in a form that is meant to be more immediately approachable, while keeping the structured, classical feel associated with Saint-Julien.For the 2020 vintage, the blend is 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from gravel-rich Médoc soils. The grapes were hand-harvested and carefully sorted before fermentation in stainless steel vats. Maturation lasted 15 months in barriques, 15% of them new, adding shape and subtle oak detail without taking the focus away from the fruit.
The magnum format gives this red Bordeaux a strong presence at the table. Served at around 16 to 17 °C and opened in advance, it fits naturally with lamb, beef or hard cheeses. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 15th century and is named after Sir John Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, who was involved in the Hundred Years War. Today, Château Talbot belongs to the Grand Cru Classé wines of the famous 1855 classification, which gives it a recognized status within the Bordeaux wine world. The estate has an extensive vineyard where mainly cabernet sauvignon and merlot are planted, supplemented with small amounts of petit verdot.
