Château Les Grands Chênes 2020 in magnum is a Médoc from Bordeaux with a clear Left Bank identity, though merlot takes the leading role in the blend. The estate is located in Saint-Christoly-du-Médoc, around a former 16th-century fortress, with vineyards planted on Garonne gravel soils.The 2020 vintage is made from 65% merlot and 35% cabernet sauvignon. That gives the wine its ripe dark-fruited core, while cabernet sauvignon brings structure and grip. Fermentation took place in small temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with an average maceration of 28 to 30 days, followed by 14 months of ageing. Michel Rolland is listed as consulting oenologist.
