Clos Fourtet 2020 is the grand vin of Clos Fourtet in Saint-Émilion, on Bordeaux's Right Bank. The estate sits on the limestone plateau close to the village, with clay-limestone soils shaping the identity of the wine. For this vintage, Clos Fourtet is listed as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B within Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.The blend is led by merlot, supported by cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. The 2020 growing season brought a very wet winter that replenished water reserves, followed by an early cycle, steady flowering and warm ripening conditions. Cooler nights in early September are linked by the producer to aromatic expression, and the available tasting notes consistently point to ripe dark fruit, freshness and a chalky structural line.
In the cellar, whole uncrushed berries were vinified in small temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with manual pigeage. Ageing took place for 14 to 18 months in the estate's underground rock cellars, using new barrels, one-wine barrels and a small proportion of amphora. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Saint-Émilion we place among the serious Bordeaux wines for cellaring: structured, precise and strongly connected to its limestone terroir. With only the last bottles remaining, it has become an increasingly scarce release.

Clos Fourtet is a well-known name within the Bordeaux wine world and is located just outside the town of Saint-Émilion, on the famous limestone plateau that makes this region so unique.
