Château Alcée 2020 in magnum is a red Bordeaux from Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, built mainly around merlot with cabernet franc in support. It comes from Château Alcée, the estate established by Nicolas Thienpont in 2011 with parcels on a limestone plateau and clay-limestone soils. That origin is central to the wine's identity, as the tasting impressions repeatedly point to a stony, mineral thread running alongside the ripe dark fruit.The 2020 vintage required strict selection after hail affected certain parcels. Those parts were kept out of the final blend. The wine was made with whole berries in concrete vats, with pigeage and remontage, then aged for 12 to 16 months in 225- and 500-litre barriques, half of which are renewed each year.
