Pastourelle de Clerc Milon 2021 is the second wine of Château Clerc Milon in Pauillac. It comes from the same terroirs as the estate's grand vin, yet it is shaped as a more approachable reading of that origin, with freshness, fruit and juiciness placed at the centre.The 2021 blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and small proportions of Carménère and Petit Verdot. The touch of Carménère is especially noteworthy, as Château Clerc Milon has old plantings of this grape. Maturation for 12 months in barrels from the previous vintage keeps new oak from dominating the wine, allowing the fruit and structure to remain clearly expressed.
The 2021 growing season in Bordeaux was cooler and more demanding, giving wines with a fresher, more classical feel. In this Pastourelle, that translates into a Pauillac with definition, freshness and well-marked tannins.
