Domaine Villemaine Pinot Noir 2023 is a still red wine from the Loire, made from 100% pinot noir and released as IGP Val de Loire. The family estate is based in Thésée, near Blois, and has been active since 1825, working around 45 hectares of vineyards on clay-limestone soils.The winemaking is kept focused on clarity of fruit. The grapes are destemmed, followed by 7 days of maceration and malolactic fermentation. Ageing is split between tank and wood: 80% remains in cuve, while 20% spends 1 year in barrique. That gives the wine a gentle wood accent without moving the fruit out of the foreground.
