Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise Fordeveau 2021 from La Grange Aux Sources is a red Burgundy where the parcel plays a central role. Fordeveau is a specific Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise cuvée from the Mercurey area, made from Pinot Noir and sourced from a plot acquired by Julien Bordet in 2018.La Grange Aux Sources is a young domaine, founded in 2021 by Julien Bordet and Marion Bureaux. As this vintage belongs to the domaine's first releases, it has a particular place in the Drankenshop Broekmans selection for customers who enjoy discovering newer names from Burgundy.
The vineyard details are precise: high on the slopes, with a north-eastern exposure, at around 265 metres altitude. The vines are about 36 years old and planted on marl-limestone soils. For the 2021 vintage, the grapes were fully destemmed, and the wine was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, with a restrained proportion of new oak.
The style is built around Pinot Noir fruit, freshness and a mineral undertone rather than weight. With only the last bottles remaining, this Côte Chalonnaise cuvée is becoming increasingly scarce.
