Matarromera Gran Reserva 2014 is a red wine from Ribera del Duero, made from 100% Tempranillo, locally known as Tinta del País. Its fruit comes from the Duero Valley, around Valbuena de Duero and Olivares de Duero, including the Finca de Las Celadillas and San Román vineyards on limestone-rich loam soils.The appeal of this Gran Reserva lies in the way it has been built over time. The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates, with selection in the vineyard, then by bunch and finally by individual berry. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts, followed by 24 months in French and American oak and a further 36 months of bottle ageing.
The 2014 vintage developed slowly and evenly after a dry, relatively mild summer. At Drankenshop Broekmans, this is the kind of Ribera del Duero we like to present to customers looking for a mature Spanish red with substance: ripe fruit, structure, oak ageing and bottle development all playing their part.
It has the presence to sit comfortably alongside red meat, game, stews, mushrooms, Iberian cured meats, aged cheese, pâté or foie gras. With only the last bottles remaining, this vintage has become a particularly interesting choice for those who enjoy Gran Reserva with some evolution already in place.

About MATARROMERA
Matarromera is a Spanish winery that has its origins in the prestigious Ribera del Duero wine region. It was founded in 1988 by Carlos Moro, who comes from a family with a long winemaking tradition. Central to the story of Matarromera is a combination of innovation and respect for traditional Spanish viticulture. The winery has several vineyards spread over the best parts of Ribera del Duero, with a strong focus on the tempranillo grape, which is called Tinta del País in this region. The wines are generally characterized by a full body, a deep color and complex aromas, often with notes of ripe fruit and subtle wood influences obtained through aging in oak barrels. Matarromera is part of Grupo Matarromera, which, in addition to wine, is also active in other segments such as olive oil and cosmetics, but the estate gains most of its fame with its award-winning red and white wines.
