Tenuta Sette Ponti Oreno 2020 is a red Toscana IGT from Tuscany and the flagship wine of Tenuta Sette Ponti. Built from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, it follows the idea of a Tuscan Bordeaux-style blend while keeping a clear sense of its central Tuscan origin.The fruit comes from the estate's vineyards at around 250 metres altitude, with a southern exposure and soils described as clay, sand, galestro and pebble-rich sections. Merlot is associated with the more clay-based plots near the stream that gives Oreno its name, while Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on better-drained, stonier ground. The grapes are harvested by hand, with careful sorting and reduced yields in the vineyard.
After fermentation and malolactic conversion, the wine matures for 18 months in French Allier oak barriques, followed by bottle ageing before release. Technical information for the 2020 vintage also mentions the use of new French oak. That ageing suits the wine's concentrated style: dark, ripe and structured, with the oak influence integrated into its depth rather than standing apart from it.
