Château Palmer 2020 is the Grand Vin of Château Palmer from Margaux in the Médoc. This is the estate's first wine, not Alter Ego de Palmer, and it belongs to the 1855 classified growths of the Médoc as a Troisième Grand Cru Classé.The 2020 vintage was early and demanding. Budbreak came almost two weeks ahead of schedule, followed by a wet March and a mild, humid spring. From mid-May, dry and warm conditions returned. August brought heat and water stress, while storms helped relieve the merlot before dry weather came back and encouraged tannin concentration.
The blend is built on equal parts merlot and cabernet sauvignon, 48% each, with 4% petit verdot. That balance is central to the wine's identity: merlot gives breadth, roundness and ripe fruit, while cabernet sauvignon brings freshness, structure and fine-grained tannins. Ageing in barriques followed by further maturation in foudre underlines a style focused on depth, texture and long development.
