Product info about Trinite Estate Acaibo 2016
Trinite Estate Acaibo 2016 is a Sonoma County red with a clear Bordeaux inspiration, yet it remains firmly Californian in origin. It is the first label of Acaibo, the California project of Gonzague and Claire Lurton, built around Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.The vineyard lies near Chalk Hill, close to Healdsburg, at around 250 metres above sea level. Volcanic and clay-rich soils, organic farming methods and very limited irrigation give the wine a serious, site-driven foundation. The 2016 growing season began dry, was helped by April rainfall, and then developed evenly, allowing the fruit to ripen under favourable conditions.
Small-lot vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel was followed by 16 months in French oak barrels in a Bordeaux style, with a high proportion of new wood. That explains the wine's firm structure, dark-fruited depth, spicy accents and polished oak influence, while retaining freshness.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a fine example of Californian red wine for drinkers who appreciate power with shape and detail. Availability is limited to the remaining bottles, and the 2016 vintage has also received strong international recognition, with scores reaching 96/100. Serve at around 16 to 17 °C and consider decanting for about an hour, especially with beef, lamb, stews or mature cheeses.
