Ceretto Barolo Bricco Rocche 2019 Magnum is a Barolo with a very precise sense of origin. It comes from the small Bricco Rocche MGA in Castiglione Falletto, a 1.46-hectare vineyard fully owned by the Ceretto family. Positioned between Villero and Rocche di Castiglione, in the central part of the appellation, it is a single-vineyard Barolo rather than a blend of several sites.The wine is made entirely from nebbiolo. Bricco Rocche has been part of Ceretto's story since the first vintage in 1982, and the estate has worked with organic certification across its production since the 2015 vintage. The approach is carefully measured: hand selection of the grapes, fermentation in stainless steel, followed by maturation in smaller and larger oak vessels.
At Drankenshop Broekmans, this magnum stands out as a serious cellar bottle. The 2019 vintage is described as structured, fresh and long, with firm yet finely shaped tannins and considerable ageing potential. Several respected critics have rated it very highly, but the real interest lies in the way it captures one small site in Castiglione Falletto with clarity and discipline.
If opened young, it benefits from decanting and a serving temperature around 18 to 20 °C. Its structure and savoury depth make it a natural partner for red meat, game, lamb, mushroom or truffle dishes, rich ragù and mature cheeses.
