Ceretto Barolo Brunate 2019 in magnum is a serious Piedmont red from the Barolo DOCG, made entirely from nebbiolo. Brunate is not just a name on the label here; it is a historic cru near La Morra, on the border with Barolo. Ceretto owns 5.3 hectares there and the first production is listed as 1978.The interest lies in the meeting of site and restraint. Brunate has a southern exposure and Ceretto describes this wine as an organic Barolo. For the 2019 Barolos, the fruit spent around 25 days on the skins, followed by malolactic conversion and a period in neutral French oak before further ageing in Stockinger casks. The winemaking gives the wine room to express nebbiolo's structure and the character of its origin.
