Dalla Valle Maya 2020 is a Napa Valley red with a very clear sense of origin. Maya has been made since 1988 as a Bordeaux-inspired cuvée, and the 2020 vintage is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Cabernet Franc. Its Cabernet Sauvignon core comes from Maya's Vineyard, a five-acre parcel planted in 1987 and named after Maya Dalla Valle.The site lies on the eastern slopes of Oakville, on volcanic, iron-rich soils. For 2020, the growing season began dry, with a relatively warm spring, followed by warm days and cool Napa evenings. Ripening accelerated in August, bringing an early harvest. The result is described as a dry, powerful and structured Napa Cabernet blend, where Cabernet Sauvignon gives the dark-fruited backbone and Cabernet Franc brings herbal, floral and graphite-like detail.
