Tempo D'Angelus 2021 shows a younger and more immediately approachable side of Château Angélus. This red Bordeaux is made from estate-owned vineyards outside the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, around places such as Castillon-la-Bataille, Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, Sainte-Colombe and Francs. It carries the Angélus connection clearly, but in a cuvée designed to be enjoyed earlier than the estate's grands crus.The 2021 blend is led by Merlot, with Cabernet Franc in support. Its fruit comes from cool, deep clay-limestone slopes with tuffeau and marl, sites with southern exposure that help shape a wine built around freshness, fruit and structure rather than weight.
Vinification takes place in the Chai Carillon in Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, in a cellar created specifically for this cuvée. Barrel ageing, including a portion of new oak, adds a measured frame without taking over the wine. Château Angélus is a winery from Saint-Émilion, in the Bordeaux region of France, best known for its red wines based on merlot and cabernet franc. The estate has a rich history dating back to the 18th century and has been owned by the de Boüard de Laforest family for several generations.
