Chappellet Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is a Napa Valley red built firmly around Cabernet Sauvignon, yet it has more to say than pure varietal power. The blend is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot. That gives the wine its dark-fruited core, structure and depth, with the supporting Bordeaux varieties adding colour and concentration.

Signature Cabernet Sauvignon is a long-standing cuvée within the Chappellet range, described by the estate as a cornerstone of its portfolio for more than five decades. For the 2019 vintage, Chappellet links the wine to the dry, rocky soils of Pritchard Hill, where small, concentrated grapes are formed. Leaf and cluster thinning were used in the vineyard to encourage even ripening and aromatic concentration.

The 2019 growing season began cool and wet, followed by a moderate summer and warmer conditions in October. Chappellet describes the result as a combination of aromatic clarity, energy and fresh flavours from earlier-ripening grapes, with colour, concentration and supple tannins from later-ripening varieties. The wine has received broad recognition from respected international critics, including Decanter, James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. This Chappellet shows a dark, concentrated style, with cassis, blackcurrant, dark cherry, blueberry, blackberry and plum at the core. Around that fruit come violet, chocolate, espresso, tobacco, cedar, anise and a mineral note described as graphite or iron-like.

French oak ageing appears through vanilla, clove, cardamom, baking spices, toast and cedar. The palate is built on ripe yet present tannins, with a firm but polished texture, good freshness and a long finish carrying dark fruit, wood spice and savoury nuances. Grilled aged beef is a natural match.
