Château Rauzan-Ségla 2021 Demi is the Grand Vin of this Margaux estate, presented here in a 37.5 cl half bottle. It is a thoughtful format for opening a serious Bordeaux with a little more restraint, while still giving the wine room to unfold in the glass.This is a Left Bank Bordeaux built around 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. Petit Verdot was harvested in 2021, but not included in the Grand Vin blend. That detail says a great deal about the selection behind the wine: hand harvesting, sorting, destemming and parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.
The 2021 vintage shows a clear Cabernet Sauvignon identity, marked by freshness, tension and precision rather than sheer weight. Eighteen months in barriques, 60% of them new, frame the wine's structure while allowing the cooler, more finely drawn character of the year to come through. Château Rauzan-Ségla is a respected name within the Bordeaux region, specifically in the Margaux appellation of the Médoc. This French winery has a long history dating back to the 17th century, when Pierre de Rauzan laid the foundations of the current estate. Today, Rauzan-Ségla is part of the châteaux classified as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the famous 1855 classification, which marks a distinctive position within the wine world.
