Chateau Brane Cantenac 2021 Demi is the grand vin of Château Brane-Cantenac in a 37.5 cl half bottle. It is not a separate cuvée, but the same red Margaux from Bordeaux's left bank, produced by an estate classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in 1855.The 2021 vintage has a more specific story than a simple label might suggest. The château describes it as a year of strong contrasts, with frost, spring rain, a gloomy summer and then a late dry spell. The fruit for this wine comes from the best plots on the Brane plateau, where sandy topsoil, gravel and a deeper clay component help shape the wine's structured yet precise style.
Cabernet sauvignon is the foundation of the blend, supported by merlot and small amounts of cabernet franc, carmenère and petit verdot. Fermentation took place in wooden vats, with gentle extraction to preserve fine structure, followed by 18 months in new French oak. Ch Brane Cantenac is a well-known wine producer from the Bordeaux region in France, specifically located in the Margaux appellation within the Medoc. The estate carries the full name Chateau Brane-Cantenac and has a long history dating back to the 18th century. In 1855, the chateau was recognized as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé during the famous Bordeaux classification, indicating an established reputation within the region. The current owner is the Lurton family, who have managed the estate since 1925; currently, Henri Lurton is at the helm.
