Carruades de Lafite 2021 is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, from Pauillac in the Médoc. This demi bottle of 37.5 cl offers the same Bordeaux in a smaller, more flexible format, well suited to a careful tasting or a dinner where a full bottle is not needed.For the 2021 vintage, the estate carried out a notably strict selection. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Carruades de Lafite has its own identity within Château Lafite Rothschild, historically linked to the Plateau des Carruades and the vineyards around the château.
The wine was made using traditional Bordeaux methods in wooden, concrete and stainless steel vats, with gentle pump-overs adjusted to each vat. It then matured for around 16 months in French oak barrels from the Tonnellerie des Domaines in Pauillac. The estate noted that the wine was still closed on release and would benefit from further development.
