Product info about Chateau Du Glana 2021
Château du Glana 2021 is the estate's first wine from Saint-Julien in the Médoc. The blend for this vintage is built around cabernet sauvignon, at 75%, with merlot making up the remaining 25%, sourced from the château's Garonne gravel soils.The 2021 vintage was a cooler, more demanding Bordeaux year. Spring was wet and cool, mildew pressure was high, and ripening moved slowly before a sunny, fairly dry August helped the grapes progress without heat spikes. For Château du Glana, that translated into a wine shaped by freshness, structure and a more traditional balance between alcohol and acidity.
After temperature-controlled vinification, the wine spent 12 months in barriques, 35% of them new. At Drankenshop Broekmans, we see this as a Saint-Julien with a clear cabernet profile: classical rather than opulent, made with bottle development in mind yet not necessarily closed off in its youth. These are the last bottles.

Ch Du Glana is a French wine producer originating from the well-known Bordeaux region, more specifically located in the appellation Saint-Julien in the Medoc. The winery, officially Château du Glana, owns vineyards that are mainly known for the classic Bordeaux grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The history of the estate goes back to the beginning of the twentieth century and saw strong development from the middle of that century onwards, with investments in modern viticulture and winemaking techniques. The vineyards can be found on the gravel-rich soil close to the river Gironde, which is typical for the wines from Saint-Julien. The red wines of Ch Du Glana are known for their elegant, balanced style with fruity notes and a subtle hint of oak aging. Due to its location and methods, the character of these wines corresponds well with other Saint-Julien producers, but Ch Du Glana distinguishes itself thanks to a relatively approachable character and good price-quality ratio. The wines are usually matured for several years in oak barrels before being released on the market and are suitable to drink young, but can also age well.
