Domaine Charlopin Tissier Bourgogne Montre Cul 2022 is a French red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir. Its interest lies in the place behind the label: Montre-Cul, a vineyard area near Dijon at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, used here as a named origin within the regional Bourgogne appellation.For this cuvée, the fruit is linked to a small estate parcel on the upper part of the slope, with sandy clay-limestone soil and vines averaging 20 to 30 years old. That setting helps explain the style described for the wine: a soft, elegant Bourgogne Pinot Noir from a cooler, higher-lying site around Dijon.
The cellar work is deliberately restrained. The grapes are fully destemmed, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts at low temperature and without heavy extraction. The wine then matures for 18 months in barrel, including 30% new oak, and is bottled unfined. Domaine Charlopin Tissier comes from Burgundy, one of France's most highly regarded wine regions. This relatively young estate was founded in 2013 and is run by brothers Yann and Justine Charlopin, who come from a family with deep-rooted wine traditions. Although the estate does not yet belong to the absolute greats of Burgundy, it has managed to attract attention in a short period of time with its approach to winemaking: respect for the terroir, minimal intervention in the cellar, and a strong focus on the expression of grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Charlopin Tissier owns vineyards around, among others, Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin, resulting in a range of typical Burgundy wines that vary from fresh, mineral-driven white wines to elegant and refined red wines. The working method is largely traditional, with manual harvesting and careful selection being standard practice. Despite its short history, Domaine Charlopin Tissier has become a name that is followed with curiosity by enthusiasts of modern Burgundy with a classic approach.
