Bibi Graetz Testamatta 2022 is a red Toscana IGT Rosso built entirely around Sangiovese. For a Supertuscan, that gives the wine a very clear identity: the focus is on Tuscan fruit, freshness and structure rather than on international grape varieties.The wine is drawn from six selected estate vineyards: Vincigliata, Olmo, Londa, Lamole, Montefili and Siena. For the 2022 vintage, Bibi Graetz highlights higher, well-ventilated sites that help express the red fruit, acidity and lift of Sangiovese. Although the year brought summer heat peaks, the producer points to altitude and wind as key factors in achieving slower, balanced ripening.
The cellar work follows that same detailed approach. Grapes are hand-harvested, selected in the vineyard and again in the cellar, then vinified separately by parcel. Native-yeast fermentation, manual pigeage and around 18 months of maturation in old barriques and large wooden casks give structure while keeping the emphasis on fruit and tension.
